Hmm. Well, I dropped out of NSCAD because it is a huge waste of money if you’re interested in Photography as a career, which I was. It’s a fine arts school and still thinks digital cameras are the devil. It also hasn’t got much in the way of sequential art/illustration and zero classes on how to make money from your art.
Art schools can be awesome. I’d love to attend MICA or SVA, which focus more on illustration. I’d say just make sure the school you’re interested in teaches you how to not starve to death when you’re done!
I plan to school more eventually. I wish I’d had access to a better program, but I am so very poor and Canadian.

CCS has really great courses on Not Starving As A Cartoonist, and I think (maybe?) tuition’s a little cheaper here than at larger schools like SVA, if you ever think of movin’ down Vermontways. Might be worth looking into!

Have you ever looked into getting a student visa or the expenses of going to a school like MICA? Maybe just to have an idea of something to work towards, you know? It really is a great school.
